Mishal Hashmi is an Operations Executive with over 12 years of experience in building companies from the ground up.

She leads teams of engineers and industry experts merging new technologies to improve the built environment - whether that's to build and run vertical farms, testing superalloys for space travel or designing unconventional architectural projects for the future.

Her newest company, ASTRO Mechanical Testing Laboratory, develops tech for 3D printed metals used in space flight, for clients like NASA and SpaceX.

She designed and built the first organic-hydroponic vertical farm in the state of Texas for Dream Harvest, which she helped launch in 2015, to grow produce for Whole Foods. She's designed and built a number of indoor farms for food and mycellium production since then.

She co-founded Hand & Machine Studio, a ceramic and digital fabrication studio in LA offering classes and facilities for LA's emerging ceramic artists.

She co-founded Fauna Force, a design collective for experimental installations with a focus on immersive and interactive environments.

She was on the team that built an award-winning Net-Zero House for the Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon, which was displayed at the National Mall and the California Science Center. 

She's worked as a Director of Design & Construction for numerous modern and pre-fab architecture studios, celebrity clients, and the City's Building & Safety Department in conjunction with the FAA and Los Angeles World Airports.

Mishal holds a Master of Architecture degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture: SCI-Arc and currently serves as President of the Board for Materials & Applications in Los Angeles.
